Stand-up comedian/television personality films program episodes in Marquette

Fifty-three miles of expansive shoreline, vast forests and rich regional history have kept visitors and locals in awe of Marquette and the Upper Peninsula for years. The allure and natural beauty of Marquette also captured the attention of New York-based stand-up comedian Joe Pera.
Pera shot his most recent show, Joe Pera Talks With You, in Marquette. The series premiered on May 20 on Adult Swim, the late-night programming block of cable television’s Cartoon Network. The series is a how-to on varying subject matter, he explained.
“Like episode two is how to pick out the perfect breakfast on a Saturday morning, and episode four is Joe Pera Shows You How To Dance, in which I show viewers how to dance if they are alone at their coworker’s wedding and don’t want to do anything embarrassing or inappropriate,” Pera said. “It’s not The Sopranos, but I did my best,” he said in the show’s promotional video.
Pera has two previous Adult Swim specials that led him to Marquette and to the production of his latest show. His first special Joe Pera Talks You To Sleep was an animation that aired at 4 a.m. and was meant to do just that—put viewers to sleep. His second, Joe Pera Helps You Find a Christmas Tree, led him to a Christmas tree farm in Newberry.
