Trail provides home for local mountain bikers

Marquette County is home to many biking trails, including paved paths used for commuting and recreation along with intricate mountain biking trails groomed for every season.

These paths expanded when the Iron Ore Heritage Trail was completed in the Negaunee and Ishpeming area, giving residents a space to grow physically, get outdoors with friends and family and stay active all year long.

The Iron Ore Heritage Trail runs about forty-eight miles and sits on a natural bed of iron deposition. The area went through intense mountain building, which exposed the iron to a lot of heat and pressure. It was later eroded by glaciation to its current terrain.
