Nunsensations! A whole lot of funny going on, Ann Gonyea

The Peninsula Arts Appreciation Council will present the community musical theater production of Dan Goggin’s Nunsensations! The Nunsense Vegas Revue. Opening night performance is August 28 at the historic Vista Theater in downtown Negaunee.
Nunsensations! The Nunsense Vegas Revue takes the sisters on an exciting adventure to Las Vegas when a parishioner volunteers to donate $10,000 to the sisters’ school if they will perform at a friend’s club.
Mother Superior, played by Chris Marrietti, is hesitant to accept, but after being assured by the other sisters that “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas,” she agrees to the performance. What happens next is an entertaining spoof on the feather-filled, sequin-studded, fan-dancing fun one can find only in Vegas.
The old-time vaudeville Vegas performance has been characterized as a “whole lot funny and a little bit naughty, but there ain’t nothin’ dirty goin’ on.”
Performing in “The Pump Room” at the Mystique Motor Lodge, the sisters experience “show-biz” like never before. Show-goers meet Sin-City Sue, learn who’s Black and White with Her Money on Red, and even try their luck with the “Holy Rollers Giant Slot Machine.”
Other members of the Vista cast are Sara Carson as Sister Mary Hubert, the Mistress of Novices; Tina Nelson as Sister Robert Anne, the streetwise nun from Brooklyn; Lillian Konvensky as Sister Mary Paul, a.k.a. Sister Amnesia; and Jessica Carpenter as Sister Mary Leo, the nun who wants to be a dancer.
Additional performances will be presented on August 29 and 30, and September 3 through 6. Ticket prices are $12 for adults and $8 for students (high school and under). All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Vista Theater, located at 218 Iron Street in Negaunee.
Tickets may be purchased in advance at any NMU EZ ticket outlet, including the new outlet in the Vista Theater Thrift Shop next door to the theater. Limited tickets are available at the door. There is no reserved seating. For more information, call 475-7188 or visit
