Breast cancer awareness celebrated in October

October happens to be one of my favorite months. The smell of fall is in the air and the trees are changing to beautiful shades of red, yellow and orange; football season is in full swing; and who doesn’t love Halloween?

I also love that the entire month of October is dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness. Breast Cancer Awareness month is an annual campaign aimed at increasing awareness of the disease.  Although many of us are connected to someone whose life has been affected by breast cancer, we forget the importance of early detection.
